The 4 Types of Solopreneurs

What is a Solopreneur? Solopreneurs are the kinds of people who value flexibility and autonomy. People who prefer to guide their careers by the kind of work they want to be doing, instead of the work that a manager tells them to do. A Solopreneur might employ freelancers or contractors, or even have a small team, but the business, the work, and the mission of the Solopreneur all relies on one person's vision and brand. When I look back [...]

Deep into the Moon

This year, for my birthday, I have drawn the XVIII of Trumps, The Moon. See past years' birthday tarot cards here. The Moon is a card of the unknown, a mixture of the highest and the lowest. Just as the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, our unconscious mind reflects the thoughts of our conscious mind. "The Moon will lead us into the blackest depths of our soul, into the world of the subconscious, where there are no [...]

New Years Resolutions 2020

For 2020, my word is Relax. My work ethic has really messed me up. There were some great big victories in my business, and I'm proud of what I accomplished; but there were a lot of challenges with my health, teaching me lessons I wasn't quite ready to learn. Annual Review Table of Contents My #AnnualReview consists of 4 parts: What were my victories? What could have gone better? How many New Year’s Resolutions did I keep? What are [...]

Befriending My Illness

I was completely unable to work. My fatigue had been keeping me from concentrating all morning, and the symptoms of my illness - bloody, uncomfortable, and draining - had been steadily increasing over the past two weeks. I gave up trying to function, and went into the backyard to sit with a cup of tea and ask myself what to do next. The vista was amazing. We live right next to the wilderness, and I watched birds fly around me [...]

September Springtime

I'm still disoriented by the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere. September is the start of Spring in New Zealand, and after the long winter, I'm enjoying the warmer days and brighter skies. We Sprang Forward at the beginning of the month, while my North American friends will Fall Back 4 weeks later. So our time difference has temporarily shortened from 5 hours difference PT / 8 hours difference ET. Right now it is 4 / 7 hours off, and next [...]
