Plyometrics by the pool.

Its been a week since I restarted P90X. My body is already changing shape dramatically. It is comforting, to be re-becoming the athlete I used to be. Like putting on an old favorite pair of trousers, this fits me well and reminds me of what living my life used to be like, exercising diligently every day. Plyometrics has always been my favorite routine in the P90X series, for it gave me the jumping skills I needed to do Parkour. After [...]

Macbook Warrior

I am a modern techno-mage. This time in history, my power is unparalleled. I imagine one of my ancestors, traveling forward in time to spend a day with me. My explanations of how I spend my time would reveal the modern world to be magical. I wake to a song on my iPhone. This small device is my companion throughout the day. It is my gateway into worlds of information, and the keeper of diverse magical spells, all kept in [...]

Physical Commitments

Whenever you start a period of discipline, it helps to declare your intentions to the world, I've found. I'm going on a six week binge of health and cleansing. From now until August 1, I'm going to get up every morning at 5 am. Pratyahara for an Active Mind

After a decade of practicing the physical aspects of yoga, I got bored. Little did I know, the Asana is only one of the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga. Building my body into peak physical condition relied on an intense Yoga practice, a love of Parkour, and an 18-month love affair with P90X. After having the body of an elite athlete, I grew restless; it wasn't enough. Thankfully, I found the other seven limbs of Ashtanga. One of them has [...]

Under Capitalization

I've been over-capitalized. For the past couple of years, I've been in the habit of capitalizing my name wherever it appears online. My Twitter handle is @CAELANHUNTRESS, my signature is always in capitals, and the 'from' field of all emails that people receive says 'CAELAN HUNTRESS' in big, loud letters. My purposes for doing this were twofold: First, people frequently misspell my name as 'Caelen' (or worse), partially because of the upper-terminal usage of the letter 'a.' One of [...]
