Indi has two good friends, Olive and Maple. Olive has been one of Indi’s best friends since she was a baby, and Maple is Olive’s little sister.
Indi got this mischievous little smile on her face and came up to Johanna yesterday. She said, “Mommy, can I ask you a question?”
“Sure,” Johanna said.
“Do you think Olive likes Maple Syrup?” Indilea asked. “And do you think Maple likes Olive Oil? We should make them some sister juice!” Then she laughed a big giggling laugh.
Her sense of humor is really wacky and fun. I’m doing everything I can to nurture that with our “Wouldn’t it be funny?” game.
We will be sitting around and one of us will say, “Wouldn’t it be funny if…that candle was in your ear?” Then we both laugh, and the other comes back with something like, “Wouldn’t it be funny if…that couch was on your head?” Then we laugh. This game goes on for fife to fifteen minutes, depending on the creativity and the mood of the participants. I can tell that as we move more into the older-kid-stage of childhood, I am going to enjoy being a dad even more.
